The Kunjali Marakkars- Feats of Valour

The house of Kunjali Marakkars at Kottakkal, vatakara, Calicut, Kerala. Now this house is the only remaining building which was believed to be built during the era of Kunjali Marakkars. Kunjali Marakkar was the Muslim naval chief of the Samoothiri Raja (Samoothiri was anglicized as Zamorin) of Calicut during the 16th century. There were four Kunjalis who played a vital role in the Raja's naval wars with the Portuguese who arrived in India in 1948.
