Asato ma sad gamaya
Tamaso ma jyotir gamaya
Mrtyor ma amrtam gamaya

This is one of the most significant mantras of the Upanishads which is an invocation to the Light of the Divine which means,

Lead me from the unreal to the Real

Lead me from darkness unto Light

Lead me from death to Immortality

It is through Divine Light that a seeker can escape the bondage of mortal life and be reborn in the Life Divine.
According to our Indian tradition, there were once one thousand one hundred and eighty Upanishads. Each came from one branch, shakha, of the Vedas. Out of these, two hundred Upanishads made their proper appearance, and out of these two hundred, one hundred and eight Upanishads are now traceable.
